Hippeastrum Exotic Star

Bought a few years ago in a garden centre, the Christmas gift that nobody wanted - but was determined to grow. Still in its box, the soil still in a plastic bag, the bulb had burst into life and had pushed its way through a crack in the lid, and had a rather bent 10 inch stem with valiant bud. How could I leave it there? How could everyone else who had seen it have left it there?

It's my wonder of life, determined to live, no matter what.

It is now in bud for the 5th year!
